When you start a session, UOME generates a QR code and a shareable link. Your friends scan or tap to join — on their phone or any web browser, no app download needed. Everyone sees the receipt and claims the items they ordered in real time. Once everyone's done, you review the assignments and close the session. Shares and balances are updated automatically.

Yes. UOME's AI detects the currency on your receipt automatically, so you don't need to set anything manually when you're abroad. You can also set a preferred currency in your profile to filter your dashboard and history to a specific currency. Bills from other currencies are stored separately to keep your totals accurate.

UOME is available in 11 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese, Portuguese, and Italian. The app follows your device language setting automatically, and you can change it at any time from your profile.

Even, percentage-based, and itemized splits are all available. You can also split a single item across multiple people.

Editing is currently limited — make sure your contents are correct before saving. If you used an itemized split, you can reassign items between participants. For even and percentage splits, you cannot add new participants after saving. Full editing is on the roadmap.

You can share a full group summary so everyone sees the breakdown at once, or send each person an individual message showing only their share. Better yet, send a payment request directly through Venmo or PayPal — pre-filled with the exact amount they owe.

Yes — an account is required to split bills. This allows your receipts, groups, and balances to sync properly across sessions and devices.

The scanner picks up tax and tip values from the receipt and bases them on the document subtotal. For itemized splits, each participant's tax and tip is calculated proportionally based on their share of the subtotal.

UOME organises your bills by currency to keep your data clean and your totals accurate. If a bill was scanned in CAD but your selected currency is USD, it won't appear in your current view. Simply switch your currency to CAD in the settings and your bill will show up.

UOME sends daily reminders for any unpaid balances, so you never have to manually follow up with people.

Confirm your tax, tip inputs, and item assignments. Tiny rounding differences of 1–3¢ are expected across split types due to cent-level rounding.

Some scanning errors are expected — no OCR is perfect. Accuracy is being improved every day. For now, review scanned items before saving and correct anything that looks off.
