Privacy
Policy
UOME ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using the UOME app or website at uomeapp.com, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you create an account or use UOME:
- Account information — your name, email address, and phone number when you register.
- Contact information — names and phone numbers of people you add to bills or groups within the app. You are responsible for ensuring you have permission to share this information with us.
- Payment handles — if you choose to use the Venmo or PayPal integration, we store your Venmo username or PayPal handle solely to generate payment request links for your friends. We do not collect, process, or store any payment card, bank account, or transaction information.
- Usage data — how you interact with the app (screens visited, features used, session length), collected via Firebase Analytics. This data is anonymized and aggregated.
We do not collect payment card details, bank account numbers, or any sensitive financial information. UOME is a bookkeeping and bill-tracking tool — all payments are handled entirely by Venmo, PayPal, or whichever platform you choose.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Allow you to split bills, create groups, and track balances within the app.
- Generate payment request links to Venmo or PayPal using the handles you provide.
- Send you daily reminders for outstanding unpaid balances (push notifications, if enabled).
- Understand how UOME is used so we can improve the product (via Firebase Analytics).
- Respond to your support requests.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your information with third parties except as described in Section 3.
3. Third Parties We Work With
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate UOME:
- Supabase — our database and backend infrastructure, hosted in the US (us-west-1 region). Your data is stored on Supabase's servers. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase Analytics — we use Firebase to understand app usage patterns. Data collected is anonymized. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Venmo / PayPal — if you use payment request features, UOME generates a deep link to Venmo or PayPal using the handle you provide. Any payment you initiate is governed by Venmo's or PayPal's own terms and privacy policies. UOME does not receive or process any transaction data.
- RevenueCat — used to manage subscriptions for UOME Pro. RevenueCat handles subscription state and billing through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not store payment information directly. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any other third party.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase's US-based infrastructure (us-west-1 region). We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS) and access controls to protect your information.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention and Account Deletion
When you delete your UOME account, all of your personal data — including your profile, receipts, groups, and contact information — is automatically and permanently deleted from our systems via a cascading deletion process. This happens immediately upon account deletion and is not reversible.
Aggregated and anonymized analytics data (which cannot be linked back to you) may be retained for product improvement purposes.
6. Cookies and Tracking
The UOME website at uomeapp.com does not use cookies or tracking technologies. The UOME mobile app uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data as described above — this is not cookie-based tracking.
7. Children's Privacy
UOME is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Users between 13 and 18 should use UOME only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Deletion — you can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app.
- Correction — you can update your account information at any time in the app settings.
- California residents (CCPA) — you have the right to know what personal data we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of your data. We do not sell your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of UOME after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
